In crystal tradition, every stone carries a mood. Some are described as soft and settling, others as bright and energizing. The bedroom is the room where most people want the first kind, so the old advice is simple: keep the calming stones by the bed and give the lively ones a home in a room where you work, create or move.
None of this is a sleep treatment. It is a way of shaping a space with intention, the same way you might choose a lamp or a scent. If sleep is genuinely a struggle, please talk to a doctor.
Stones tradition keeps by the bed
- Amethyst: the classic nightstand stone, long associated with calm and quiet reflection. A small cluster or a tumbled piece is plenty. Resonance Reset makes an amethyst crystal singing bowl if you like ending the day with a single soft tone. Use code CRYSTALHEALING to save 5%.
- Rose quartz: the stone of gentleness and self-kindness, traditionally kept near the pillow. Its blush colour also simply looks restful in low light. See Resonance Reset's rose quartz singing bowl (code CRYSTALHEALING saves 5%).
- Lepidolite: a lilac, softly glittering stone that tradition links with easing a busy mind. Keep it dry; it is a soft mica-rich mineral.
- Moonstone: associated with the moon, cycles and rest, which makes it a natural fit for the night table.
- Selenite: often placed on a windowsill or shelf in bedrooms for its pale, quiet glow. It dissolves in water, so never rinse it.
Tip: one or two stones on the nightstand reads as calm. A crowded tray reads as clutter, whatever the stones are.

Stones many people move to another room
These are described in crystal tradition as stimulating, motivating or high-energy. That makes them popular on a desk, in a studio or by the front door, and less popular next to the pillow.
- Citrine: the bright stone of abundance and get-up-and-go.
- Tiger's eye: tied to focus, drive and action.
- Carnelian and ruby: warm red and orange stones linked with vitality and passion.
- Red jasper: grounding but energizing, associated with stamina.
- Pyrite: golden "fool's gold," a manifestation and business stone. Keep it dry too; it can tarnish and break down in damp air.
- Clear quartz: called the amplifier, so some prefer it outside the bedroom or paired with calmer stones.
- Moldavite and turquoise: described as intense or activating, so often kept for meditation spaces rather than the nightstand.
Two minerals to display only, sealed
This part is not tradition. It is mineral safety.
- Cinnabar is mercury sulfide. Keep it in a closed display case, don't handle it, never place it in water and keep it away from children and pets.
- Malachite contains copper. A polished piece is fine to admire, but avoid its dust, never use it in water and wash your hands after handling raw pieces.

A simple bedtime ritual
- Dim the lights and set one calming stone where you can see it.
- Hold it for a few slow breaths and let the day go.
- If you have a singing bowl, strike it once and listen until the tone fades completely. You can try it in our playable crystal bowls.
- Put the phone away and the stone back on the nightstand.

Crystals are part of a tradition and a personal ritual, not a sleep treatment. If sleep is a real struggle, please speak to a doctor.
